France may have won World Cup 2018, but there is sure to be even greater competition for the next World Cup. Our first national team I will review is Colombia, even though they did not have the greatest of performances in this year’s tournament, Colombia is still a force to be reckoned with.  No doubt the strongest part of Colombia’s team is the midfield. With powerful midfielders James Rodriguez, Carlos Sanchez, and Edwin Cardona. they will likely soon rebuild when it comes to the forwards, well at least they need to. Radamel Falcao is very injury prone and is considered old for a striker, both Teofilo Gutierrez and Jackson Martinez hardly play anymore. The defense for now looks solid with the two center backs. Yerry Mina and Davidson Sanchez are both tall and powerful center backs who not only provide defense but also goals. Yerry Mina scored a goal in back to back games off a set piece. Colombia will seem to also go to David Ospina for there number 1 goalkeeper role, but they should start finding new talent as the goalkeeper has been out of form for years. Overall though this team is doing well and bringing in more talent, they should easily qualify for the next World Cup.

The second national team we have is the Netherlands. With its Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder days over, the Dutch look to start a new chapter. They have a lot of fresh legs and some really good talent. Some of there most promising young players are Virgil  Van Dijk, Quincy Promes, Memphis Depay, and Justin Kluivert. They also have players who have been around the squad for a while in Davy Klassen, Daley Blind, and  Jasper Cillesen. They have a really good young but vocal back line and a really promising midfield. They will though need to find a new striker they have not since found someone even near as good of a replacement for Robin Van Persie. Van Dijk looks to be the best player in the squad and is a big part of Liverpool’s defense. Corrupt management and coaching caused the Dutch to miss out on this years World Cup, but they should find there way in qualifying and will likely make it past the round of 16.
